WABI 5 Visits Polar Treat in Perry, Maine

This week was an unforgettable one at Polar Treat in Perry, Maine, as we welcomed the crew from WABI 5 to our family-run business. Their visit wasn’t just about showcasing our food—it was about telling the story of the hardworking kids and the long family history that make Polar Treat so much more than a summer stop.

The news team came to highlight the way our children have stepped up to help carry on the Polar Treat tradition. At a time when many kids are glued to screens, ours can be found behind the counter or in the kitchen, learning responsibility and gaining pride in what they do.

One of the biggest highlights of the segment was Sweet Swirls by Londyn, our daughter Londyn’s creative and growing venture. Her custom ice cream cakes—beautiful, colorful, and completely delicious—have quickly earned a following, and WABI 5 was excited to share her story with their viewers. At such a young age, Londyn has already shown that hard work and imagination can turn into something sweetly successful.

But she’s not the only one shining at Polar Treat. Kagan has found his place working at the food window, where he greets customers with grace, poise, and a smile. he has mastered the art of taking orders, serving with confidence, and making each guest feel welcome. Watching him grow into her role has been a proud moment for us as parents.

Meanwhile, Rylan has been busy in the kitchen, learning the ins and outs of cooking alongside his father, Judson, and mother, Michelle. From flipping burgers to preparing seafood baskets, he’s gaining skills that will serve him for a lifetime—and building memories of working shoulder to shoulder with his family.

WABI 5 also took time to reflect on the long history of Polar Treat, a tradition that has been passed down through generations here in Washington County. Over the years, our little roadside spot has become more than just a place to eat—it’s a community hub, a summer tradition, and a destination for both locals and visitors passing through Downeast Maine. Parents who once stopped in as kids now bring their own families, carrying on a tradition that means so much to us.

For our family, Polar Treat isn’t just a business—it’s a piece of who we are. To see WABI 5 shine a light on not only our history but also the dedication and enthusiasm of our kids was truly meaningful. They captured the heart of what Polar Treat represents: family, community, and the joy of working together.

📺 Be sure to tune in to WABI 5 News at 5pm in the next day or so to catch the feature. We’re so excited for you to see Polar Treat—and our family—through their eyes. Whether you’re a longtime customer or planning your very first visit, we can’t wait to welcome you.
